My office gave me a Suburban when I was in Saudi Arabia as an ‘office car’. I suggested getting 2 Smart Cars for escape pods should traffic get too bad...they didn’t think my idea was funny.

On one hand, model year 2008 smart with the rare yellow panels.

On the other hand, no tachometer, basic interior colour, the panels are damaged, and those wheels are ruined (brake dust).

Back to the other hand...WHOLESALE! :D

Very curious how you can tell it’s an ‘08, and how you can tell there’s no tach.

...Also the interior is beat to shit, cigarette burns everywhere and a ton of human slime, and it misfires horribly.

Easy! Yellow is a colour that was originally offered in 2008, again in 2010 for a special edition model, then again in 2013 for a two year run.

The 2010 yellow is a little brighter. It was offered exclusively on special edition pures with the chrome trim package. The 2013-2015 yellow is a bit darker, with more orange than either the 2010 or the 2008.

So, what tips me off to this car being a 2008 and not a 2010 or a 2013-2015? Firstly, it’s missing the chrome package and hubcaps, making it a passion model (nixing the 2010). The body has 2008-early 2011 era black lower bumpers/side skirts (2011 and on have them in body colour), it also has 9-spoke wheels (2011 and on have 12-spoke), and the interior is pre-facelift.

As for the tachometer. The second generation smarts have them pop out of the center of the dashboard inside of pods. No visible pods, no tach. :)

In this picture here, you can see the two pods sitting next to each other on the dash:

The misfire most likely means that the engine is toast. Misfiring is a telltale sign of burned valves and/or a warped head. Unless one buys it for $1k and/or plans on doing an engine swap, it’s not worth putting it back on the road again.
